Our absolute must haves:
  • You love technology for what it can do to enable and empower people
  • You can help craft a vision as well as implement one

  • You are willing to learn the ins and outs of a client's business
  • You can communicate complex technical ideas to nontechnical people
  • You can sell the "right" idea, even if it's not what the client asked for

Your primary responsibility as a Cloud Consultant is making the client happy. Sometimes that's with a technical solution, and sometimes that's listening to their problems and being an empathetic ear.
You must be self-motivated, driven, and able to deliver client needs on time, working remotely with access to high speed internet. Occasional client site visits may be required.
Other responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver repeatable, highly-available cloud architectures and application stacks
  • Gather client requirements and deliver on requirements (this includes helping clients understand what they NEED, not just what they WANT)
  • Communicate clearly and openly within the team and with client teams
  • Understand how to apply best practices for different technologies
  • Deliver systems using least privilege, and best security practices
  • Understand how to analyze a software project/product, and determine risks and recommend methods to manage or mitigate those risks
In addition to technical experience, you should have a solid background in client services!
We'd love for you to have skills in lots of these technologies:
  • AWS: cloudformation stacks and templates, codepipeline and deploy
  • AWS ECS / Docker / EKS, lambda - all the simples*s and elastics*
  • Windows and Linux
  • Networking, network protocols, network security, and encryption technologies
  • Monitoring tools: Cloudwatch, Newrelic, and datadog
  • Windows networks without AD, PowerShell automation and scripting, storage and Hyper-V
  • Multiple web technologies like Tomcat, Magento, Ruby on Rails, PHP, DotNet core, C# (understanding how these are deployed, and managed. It is up to the developers to actually run these)
Even if you're a whizbang technomage, you're probably NOT a good fit if:
  • You like tech more than people
  • You are uncomfortable in new situations
  • You get frustrated with vague or changing requirements
  • You don't like talking with nontechnical people
  • You like big, bureaucratic organizations
